Had a question about taking pictures with XH-A1

When working with the Canon XH-A1 I’ve noted that when I take pictures with the camera vs. when I record the objects always seem to be slightly more narrow/elongated then the recordings (even when compared to the freeze frames). Why is it that? Shouldn’t they both be the same since the lighting or angle hasn’t changed? Sorry if this does not make sense but I have always wondered about this and am very curious for the reasoning.

Thanks

David

Are you saying that you are experiencing a different resolution between teh video and stills? Or are you saying that it is the same resolution but it looks squeezed?

NTSC video uses rectangular pixels, whereas a photo capture would record in a standard square-pixel format, and the still frames shoot in an actual 1920x1080 frame, whereas video cheats at 1440x1080 size.

I'm no expert, but your answer is found in there.

Check your picture resolution in the menu settings, at 1920 x 1080, the stills should be identical to video size.
