Sorry For This Maybe-nonsense Question. Cant We Just Use Hvx200 Itself To Offload P2 Card To A Pc? Through The Firewire Or Usb 2.0 ?
I Dont Own A Hvx200 Yet, But Might Thiniing To Finance One Soon. I Am In Canada, Thr Price For The Camera Is 4999 And The P2 Card 16 Gb Is 900. I Am Sure This Is More Expensive Than The Us.

Also, Can I Use Sony Vegas To Edit The Footage? Heard There Is A Way To Do It.
Any Response Will Be Helpful. Thank U All In Advance!

Of course you can use the HVX to offload from a P2 card to a pc. If you're at home. Most people look for a Laptop with a slot or a P2 Store or some other data transfer/storage device so they don't have to shut down production while they use the camera to offload footage if they're in the field. If you're only shooting enough footage to fill up your p2 cards once without having to offload, go for it, but in the field you don't want to waste time without a "camera."

If I were you, depending on your location in Canada...I'd take a drive out to B&H pick one up and drive back. Probably cheaper, even paying duty.

i live in toronto just like you kegan!
newbie at here , thanks for you help.
ps. how do you like your hvx200. and do i really need a suprior computer to do the post ?

I actually have a Canon XH-A1. I wanted HD and still am old school with using tapes. I don't mind the HDV codec and the artifacting that people complain about isn't something I notice very much. I use a Macbook Pro (couple years old) to edit with and it handles it perfectly fine.

Good luck and if you ever need any help, shoot me a PM - I mean, you're in the area and all.
