GOOD|SAM - a minimalist film by hunter richards and anthony pierce

This is definitely one of my favs.

Even after watching it several days ago, the story still stays wth me as one of my favorites. The kid was great in this role and it was fascinating to watch his journey all the way to the end.

The only thing that brought this film down was the Pawnshop guys' performances. The interactions really weren't that great and some of the timing was a little off.. Maybe it's something that you can fix in editing.

Great film and I enjoyed watching it so much, I even shared it with my girlfriend and some online friends. Way to go dude.

Really glad you liked it. I hear it’s really tough to work with kids, but with Sam I didn’t notice. He did a terrific job. I really appreciate your feedback and so will he.

Dont give your child-actors soda to drink! Ever. Or any kind of sugar for that matter!

"Sam" did great though when he wasnt high on sugar.

video doesnt work for me?

video doesnt work for me?

Jared, I will get you the PP CD asap! I got a loan to buy the camera and I rented some things just for this film. Thanks for making an account and posting!

Champloo, Wow thanks. I am really glad you enjoyed it!

Hunter everytime I try to watch goodSAM it plays for about 45secs then the picture and audio just cut out and it makes a constant fuzzy noise (like the static on a TV) and the screen is black.. I tried playing it on quicktime and realplayer and both did the same... WELL I just figured out that it didnt download the whole file which is 40mbs...for some reason i only got 4.90mbs d/led then it stopped i guess? Do you know why the film takes so long to download cuz im having a really hard time to get it to download all the way and go faster (it downloads at like 2 KB a sec)

message Larry. it sounds like you got a partial download. Quicktime does that error when the entire movie isn't there, but the file is saying that it's all there...

I posted a link on the front page to watch the film in flash to avoid the download problems. Go to the first page to see it.

Oh yeah, those pops and clicks...They were actually the sound of shuffling through envelopes and tossing them on the counter.

Thanks for watching it again! I got your PM.

I reviewed this ... at least I typed out a review in Word, did I not paste it here? Can't seem to find it.

Anyway. I appreciated the realism, honesty, and simplicity you created here and really enjoyed the movie.

Yeah I wrote a longer one that hit moments I liked.

Sorry this one's not very in depth, but i deleted the original review I guess and today I've just been concerned today with getting through all the films.

Hey Hunter,

Really dug this film.

The lead is totally lovable and his quest keeps the viewer glued to the last moment.

i really liked this film. your film was great for how you showed the city through the eyes of a nine year old. and you have the best ending to anything i've seen in awhile. i honestly did not see that coming. too cool how you went with the mailbox to tell us what was what. i was like, " don't let go of the balloons,"
damn, all the while i'm thinking that the other woman wasn't all that nice to deserve such things and that this boy was way too good for her. true, you filmed the woman holding a baby different from himself, but maybe she was the kid's real mom or maybe he considered her his "mom", etc... i'm rambling but your ending was awesome and made the whole film more than worth while.

the boy did a great job of acting too and you had a great line in the pawn shop between the two men after the kid left.

well done!!! many thanks!
