6" 45RPM EP by Matty_g and Mr. Vegas

Loved it.

Loved it.

That LA Dream Team poster on the bathroom door cracks me the hell up. Did you mean that? Massive props to you on the this film! This and IFHY are my two favorites.

This was the first film of this fest I watched and it made for an excellent start. Right from the beginning I was drawn into the story due to the solid, realistic performances of the actors (which I think is a rare thing among internet shorts) and the professional look and sound of it. The characters are believable and affect the viewer emotionally. The ending makes you feel happy for the guy and leaves you with the desire to know more about the people and how it might go on with them. Only few short films have managed to affect me in this way, even after the 10th or so viewing.
The look of the film is very professional and reminds me somehow of "Lost in translation". The flat contrast look works fine for the story and I wouldn't change it. At first I was curious which camera was used and couldn't associate the look with the known 35mm adapters. I first thought it was shot with the G35 due to the filmic bokeh but then I read about the Red being involved.

Congratulations for your achievements and good luck with the voting. I'm pretty sure we'll find this film among the top of this fest.

abalex - I am an Apatow fan. Glad you enjoyed it so much!

Ted - Thanks a lot man. I was a little nervous being my first entry and all.

Kyle - that is a GREAT compliment. When are we going to get a look at in our blue little world?

Martin - 10 times? really?

This film totally ROCKED! We were drawn in slowly by the great performances and then in such a short time, actually cared about these guys. The bet itself was just so left field that I began to wonder for a moment if these guys were Cupid allegories and more than a little human. The interactions and totally natural presence and reaction of the actors was absolutley priceless as well.

Great cinematography and awesome freaking location. With a location that awesome, there's just no way you can have a bad shot, so production design only helped to aid cinematography, which is always the best way to go.

great story, good emotive carryover from the actors (made me feel good for the guy, that little moment at the end, and then the reaction of the "YES!" and hands in the air totally communicated what I was feeling). Such a sweet moment, and flawless execution. Was that take one? or did the actor do it that well every take?

One of my top favs.

Sweet film dude. Your actors totally rocked, crew as well. When you doing your next one? Can't wait to see what you got in store for us.

This is only the second project of my own since I've been out of college.
I have worked on several other films, including a feature by Zak Forsman.

Well, Matt... I think that you have a firm grasp on this craft! I would love to assist on a project of yours sometime down the road... whenever I make the BIG MOVE to CA!

By the time Matty showed up on our set Zak had turned him into a monster. He was trying to rack focus our front doorknob and when we went over to Pei Wei to order dinner he broke his chopsticks in two and was using them as a framing device. In short, working with Zak turned him into a type-A maniac. Fortunately, after being exposed to the Hyten/Johnson "Fake it and swear a lot" approach to film-making on the WTHL set, Matty calmed down a lot. Basically, he said, "you guys all suck" and he set out to shoot his own vision the Matty G way. Needless to say, it doesn't suck very bad. In fact, it might just not suck so bad enough to win this thing. Great Job Matty.

Well well well Matty, looks like Mushy Productions are not so Mushy any more.

Might have to rethink the name. "Not So Mushy Productions", "Firm Productions", "Unsentimental Productions", "Aloof, Antagonistic, Cold, Cool, Undemonstrative Productions"????

Good work Matt!!!!

Might have to rethink the name. "Not So Mushy Productions"....

For real! I'd hate for someone to make assumptions about your work based on a name like Mushy :cheesy:

2nd film? Geez... You are definitely ready for prime time, my friend.... even if you never color correct or shoot on a Red again . Great flick!

Interesting colour palette. Great location and production design. Camera work is top-notch. Story is cool.

I think the acting could have been better (or better takes used). There's some continuity and editing problems (such as the headphones on/off head). Actually, I just watched it again and I take it back about the acting -- it's perfect.

Good job!

Sadly, while I am friend's with the people at the record store, it was also the most expensive thing on the budget. I would if I could!

I am most likely doing other comedy shorts with the same cast though.
I've been talking to them and forming ideas.
