Wonder what the next fest will be...

I believe SpyFest came from a thread exactly like this. Someone suggested it, and Jarred made it law. Going from faded memory, so I could be wrong.

But, yes... folks are definitely listening. And, I would even venture to say, more so this time. Whatever the next fest is going to be, who knows... May be something from this thread, may be something from an older next fest thread, or none of them. Barry S went out on a limb I thought with LoveFest, but look at what a stunning fest this has turned out to be... both in participation, and in overall quality of work.

Jason

And, once again, I'll vote for FutureFest. Your short must take place at least 10 years (or maybe 20) in the future... it's a perfect theme AND it's not a genre.

FutureFest sound good, but would there be limitations on it on what could and could not be talked about? (the political aspects, and things like that)

ShakespeareFest: Take a shakespearan play, and make it modern day. (Although that might be limiting)

Hate Fest Sequel - take your lovefest story and do the opposite with the same characters showing hate instead of love. (Maybe not)

I guess it does make sense - the mods must look at threads like these and it must somehow sway their decision.

heh heh, I was skimming the thread in emails and I thought this was the trail of conversation ...

I missed the first line of sprocketboy's post which was good because it gave me a chuckle, and then I thought Zak had a story about breasts so big you could not see a man who stood behind them

Jack, it was a psych test. "Groping" was an intentional word to keep with the theme of the conversation. Now I know where your mind is... :Drogar-Shock(DBG): You pass!

1337Fest or GeekFest. FilmFest where the theme is the story is about characters trying to make film/student film/music video/etc

I'm just randomly throwing stuff out there haha

Would dvxuser ever venture into asking people to crew up, make bigger films and raise the stakes on prizes? etc etc... Might not have too many entries... but still...

it's risky, yeah.

I'd like to see a screenwriting contest. Not instead of, but as a separate event on DVXUser. Perhaps the screenplay that is voted best screenplay would go on to be produced by a core of users.

That's a hurdle there at the end, but it would be an interesting exercise.
