Panasonic Announces 64GB P2 Card

Those numbers are getting pretty big.

And it's right about now that P2 is clearly bypassing tape for non-stop capacity. (Not counting switching on the fly).

Heck, my laptop only has a 60GB hard drive. I totally want solid state in the next one. I wonder if P2 cards could be a bootable device... :)

Mmmmm. So I guess this means they won't be selling many 60GB P2 stores anymore?
Yeah, the P2 Store's time has passed. I view that product as a band-aid designed to get us past the tiny recording capacity of the early cards. With a 64GB card you're getting nearly three hours of 720/24p! Who needs a P2 Store now? Two cards will get you almost six hours of continuous recording.

Ha, thats exactly what i was thinking.
I wonder if the 64 will be over 2 gs.
Probably not, they're not shipping until the fall. 32's were introduced at $1650, so 64's will probably be about that same price when they're shipping. Which should put the 32 at about $900 and the 16 at about $500 sometime in the fall.

Barry:

Your forecast makes me smile, that will be great. I hope it is true.

barry.. do you think there is a way to update the HD on the P2store? I remember reading rumors on that. I'd love to put in a 200 gig drive... Even if its not possible will still be good to use to ingest the P2 into my macbook..

It has been a solid band-aid and I hate to see it go.. so updating it to a big drive would be awesome indeed... think it's possible?
