Removal of NOISE and MACRO BLOCKS from HVX and DVX footage solved!!!!!!!

MVB,
I've gone through all the options and made a noise reduction on the the MXF file with the MXFX program. I didn't miss any steps in noise removal and when importing into RAYLIGHT made unsure the MXFX treat file was converted with RAYLIGHT. MXFX is a very easy program to you however RAYLIGHT doesn't seem to pick up the MXFX cleaned file. Almost like its piggy backing the original MXF file without noticing that its been treated.

So if someone can use MXFX and treat there MXF files ( without running through RAYLIGHT ) and do a side by side comparison.

Anyone up to that challange?

Michael Freudenberg

Are those HD frames? Please send us the original MXF file. Go to DVFilm.com, Support, and use the support request link. Thanks.

The files I edit in are Avi. I can't import MXF into my editing or effects programs using MXF. Thats why I use RAYLIGHT.

This is the best noise remover I've found to date. MXFX isn't working for me as it doesn't work through RAYLIGHT. From what I have seen on the dvfilm.com website MXFX does an ok job at removing noise from a MXF file. But from what examples they have on there site neat video kicks it in the backside. Plus it's half the price.

I'm busy shooting my first short film this weekend so when I have some live footage ill post some samples of the footage before and after for everyone to make up there own minds on the noise removal.

Like I have said before. This program is something to have in your toolbox. If you don't like it then don't use it.

Oh and MVB I only directed those questions about if RAYLIGHT and MXFX compatibility questions to you because I thought you where owner/director of dvfilm.com as you have there links all over your handle name.

Cheers

This will be the end of my tests as I'm in production on a short film. I just wanted to bring to everyones attention a tool that works for noise removal.

Great stills Michael.

I've found Neat to be so handy for my Chroma key work. It does a great job of keeping the detail in the image without destroying it.

This is some very impressive stuff. I can't wait for the FCP version to come out. If it gets the same results as this, I'll snap it up in a heartbeat.

I've got some low light shots I'd love to see what it can do with those. Can't wait for the FCP version to come out!

Anyone mirror or can repost the footage. Dead links and can't view. This is truly a good find as I'm going to be doing some greenscreen shoots and also got a short film coming up... FCP version PLEASE. I would think that people would develop a FCP first as there are a half a million registered versions out there... Maybe 60 percent of the market?

Reminds me of the great value of that 99 dollar Natress FX plug-ins. What a deal! THANKS all for sharring.... SWEETNESS!

Oh snap. Someone ate my bandwidth. Wow guys!

Gotta take this stuff down. I had no idea anyone was lookin' at it.

Great find! I've got some footage that's got some noise in the background shadows and it looks like this should take care of it.

If you give me a link to the MXF files say 3 second clip ill show you.

Yes I am, and Raylight and MXFX should indeed be compatible. The examples on our website were created with MXF files processed with MXFX and converted to AVI's with Raylight. But so far you've not contacted our support team nor sent them a sample, so there's not much we can do to resolve your problem with the program.

By the way render times are much, MUCH longer with that plugin vs. MXFX, plus there are people who don't have After Effects, or would like to pre-process their files before editing and preserve timecode, metadata, etc. so I don't think $100 cost difference is the only consideration.

Hi Guys,

I just thought i'd put up some low light LEX/HVX stills with and without the NEAT plugin applied. I hope you can see 'em okay. I really do love this plug-in and how customized it can be. With the following examples i had to make a noise profile based on a tiny part of the image and it still did an amazing clean up job. I also added a hair of sharpening from within the plugin. Enjoy!

VIDEO! :D

Someone post some video as well. I wanna see other examples other than my own.

I think if you find a happy medium with the noise reduction you'd be fine. Sometimes it can be overdone.

I E-Mailed them about an Avid plugin, and the response is that they are actively working on in and it should be out within 2 months...

At $99, this is a no-brainer...
