Hi together,
in May I will travel in the USA (California, Nevada) for vacation and I will also look for a DVX100-B. Is there any chance or possibility to buy this Cam in the PAL-Norm (!) by a local seller? The reason to buy in the states? Here in germany the DVX-B costs min. about 2500 EURO´s = 3600 $.

Do you now sellers or stores, who sells this cam also in PAL?

Thanks for your concepts and hints

with regards from germany

You will have to pay import fees and VAT if coming back to Germany. That will put at least 30% on top of your cheap US price. If you don't pay that fees, you will be guilty of defraudation of tax...

I know this "problem" of the fee (and VAT or Tax). But ... when I used the cam in the Usa -and of course I will do it to documented my journey- the cam is not longer new, at this moment the cam is used. (drumhours). And used goods are nearly non-taxable.

YOu have a point there... if they ask you could jsut pull it out, show them the hour meeter and say "you call that new?" I'm not sugjesting you do that.

VAT and customs fees have nothing to do with the useage of an device.
1. You have to declare used items as well (if they were bought outside Germany)
2. They can and will check the serial number and will find out that the cam was bought in the US
3. Even if you bought the cam in Germany and want to take it with you to another (non EU) country, you have to (at least should) go to your local customs center to get a written confirmation that the cam was brought with you from Germany. Otherwise you could have trouble with the customs when returning to Germany. Btw: The DVX is not an holiday , family camcorder (even if it seems to be more of a highschool kid's or grandpa's birthday cam nowadays...sad but true) and even the dumbest customs employee will notice that...

Having worked for several TV-channels and production companies on nearly any continent on this planet flying with equipment ranging from a VX1000 to Ikegamis Editcam, I can only tell you, the law-conform way...It's up to you, what youre gonna do and if you want to declare the cam, BUT it doesn't matter how many hours are on the heads...
