Will FCP 4 work with HVX P2 files?

Almost...

P2 ingestion originated in 5.0, for standard-def only. HD ingestion happened in 5.0.4.

FCP 4.5 could be used to capture footage in HD, but you'd have to do it through firewire streaming; you can't use P2 card files in FCP 4.
