Robbie has been showing me the editing process and we've been working on getting a tighter cut and CC'ing it better.

Yep, it was sent to him a couple days ago I believe. Almost there, just has to be cut tighter and a couple flaws have to be worked out. Much better than I originally thought it would be.

Surprised Robbie hasn't popped in with an answer yet, but yes - the above grab is CC'd.

Well, without giving away too much I wanted to give the actors SOME creative freedom in situations where we were pressed for time and had to get a shot. It sounds strange, but when working with actors who are now entering the industry or are just trying to get exposure, I seem to notice that they buckle under the pressure of having to make sure "the next take counts".

I took the actors aside for a couple of scenes and spoke with them briefly, letting them know that we did have to shoot fast, but if necessary we would just find another day to make it up. I told them the general idea of the scene I wanted and asked what their opinions/thoughts were. They said that they didn't feel it fit correctly and by then they knew the theme of the script and the overall message we were trying to achieve.

I told them to improv it as they thought best and if it didn't work out, I'd be working on re-writing the scene or re-working it so that it flowed better. In both cases we had to do it, the improving worked great! Now, I know it wasn't the best way to achieve results after having fully finished a script, but it allowed them to half the number of takes they were doing when following the script verbatim.

Improving all the scenes wouldn't have worked at all, but depending on the way the shoot's going and judging the actor's comfort level with a scene - it can sometimes warrant it.

Thanks for the insight Kegan. I like hearing about everyone's process when it comes to directing actors. Looking forward to the film.

Thanks for the comment mentatDUKE - much appreciated. We've tightened up the final now and I'm pleased with our final result (as pleased as someone can be with their own work, when in the back of their mind they're constantly pointing out flaws haha).
