I just spoke to interelectronix (www.interelectronix.com) and they promised to build a new cable, especially for the HVX200, if enough people are interested.

They are specialists for customized cables.

No adapters or extra parts that can be lost, just a professionally built FW 4 to 4 cable for HVX to laptop connection!


If enough people answer this thread, they will construct one for us.
 
does it magically lock in somehow similiar to the fws-01? I'm just unsure how a "pro" 4 pin connection is going to help the issue that the 4-pin connector blows.
 
One cable, no extra parts, with right-angled special connector (both sides). One end fitting perfectly onto the HVX and cannot brake, because it can´t be levered.

4 to 4, 4,5m long.
If such a cable exists, it is hard to get in Europe. If you know where to get it, please tell me.
 
This place has a bunch of right angle fw cables but didn't see any as long as you metioned...they also do custom...

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but 4 pin right angle FW cables have been available for quite a while.

What about this one makes it so that it can't break?

yes, custom-molded, that´s what the guy from interelectronix told me.

Interelectronix is a specialist for custom made cables and the guy I spoke to owns a HVX and is on this forum sometimes as interelectronix.

He told me that if enough people want it, he can make a FW cable especially for the HVX, molded to the case.





I didn´t find a custum made 4 to 4 FW cable 4.5m long so far. It would be great for monitoring or recording to laptop.


On www.usbfirewire.com I couldn´t find a long right angled 4 to 4 FW (only 24")


If this cable exists, someone post.

I wish we could learn some specifics about this.

"Molded to the case" means what? Attached in some manner so that is rigid?

If you have specifics that would certainly generate more interest. Because a solid connection that is protected also helps when using a FW cable to capture to HD Monitor, FCP, onLocation, and Scopebox as well.

Help us out with some specific information
 
Mac users would also like a 4-pin to 6-pin, special moulding on the 4-pin end of course.

Various lengths would be good, upto 4.5m
 
I'd be down for an affordable custom-made 4-4.

If he can custom-make a 4-6 for Mac users, can he rig it with a fuse or something to protect the HVX firewire port from being blown out? If he can produce that, I'd promote it to any and every Mac user I come across.
 
Yes we can integrate a fuse. A self resettable fuse. I will post the first draft asap. Any comment of the draft appeciated.


BTW. The firewire 800 to P2 media reader project is not dead. It is more complicated that I thougth. Has anybody a P2 Drive AJ-PCD20E that is willing to open it up and take some pictures from the inside. Would be a great help.
 
Did this cable get made? On the Firestore end I would like to see something that solves the looseness problem. I've been using a rubber band.
