Watch My Director Reel Now!

wow, great real drew!

But for once, i want to see more! I don't think your selling yourself enough here buddy.

Wow, good job! You obviously have some mad skills. The colors looked great and suited each shot so well. Was this shot entirely with the DVX? What did you use for editing/CC?

Fantastic! As I expected from you, I might add...

How much of that is DVX, and how much HVX? I thought you were on an HVX now...

Like papa said, it does leave me wanting more, but to the possible clients looking through a hundred reels, the length and shots are perfect (with a great variety also). Excellent work.

That was a great reel. Not too long and it really showcased your style. Nice editing as well.

Good work.

looked way more like a DP reel than anything else...

some scenes with dialog.. or actual audio from the production would show your style a lot more effectively methinks.

looks purdy nonetheless.. just says "DP Reel" to me...

Hey guys,
I appreciate the feedback. I have gotten that from a couple people, that the reel pulled off as a DP reel. My goal was just to make a 1 minute montage that showed off good moments and a variety of work so I can show this to clients and they can then check out the actual work.

Thanks guys,
I appreciate the comments. The stuff on the 1 minute montage was shot on all different formats such as; DVX, HVX, and 16mm Arri SR2 and Arri S

From what I've seen, a DP's work is generally a montage of sequences that show off the rainbow of work one can produce, where as a Directors reel, shows short clips, with audio generally, which shows a variety in the type stories/drama he or she is able to create.

I would expect to see this kind of material for a DP's reel. You have talent.

So...

Since its supposed to be a directors reel, why couldn't I see a narrative scene fully acted?
Show me you can really direct actors! Don't hide that away behind yet another musical montage.

I see what you're saying, but disagree. The hotel scene, the girl/car/desert scene, and the dude in the colored room scene (when he's talking to the girl) clearly show direction, and not just cinematography. I don't think you always need to hear the audio to know what's going on. The image's speak pretty loudly.
