Mixing 24pn and 30pn in the same timeline

Ok so I have a project im doing....and we are contemplating mixing 24pn and 30pn footage. I know I have to do a 30pn timeline to do this....or atleast that its the best way to do it. But what am I losing in the 24pn footage....is it a problem? artifacts weird interlacing or anything like that? Any downsides at all other then the rendering.

ive searched around enough to think i know what the answer is, someone correct me if im wrong. being as its 24pn you can just leave the pulldown intact and edit on a 29.97 timline.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't 24pN remove the pull down when recording? With 24pA you can leave the pull down intact when importing.

Yea 24pn is native 24 there only 24 frames theres no pulldown so what's fcp doing when I drop that in a 29.97 timeline with 30pn footage anyone

FCP will have to insert a pulldown. Or, it'll resample it to 29.97, which may end up being the same thing.

What you don't want to do is be editing on a 30p or 24p timeline. Neither 24p nor 30p end up very well if they're converted to the other. You'll want a 60i timeline.

Do you thinlk ill have any problems with artifacts or anything final output is dvd and I could go all 30pn that is an option but aestically (ha sp?) Some stuff will work better being 24 For the project. So its not like I have to mix em but I actually want to just don't know if its a good idea

Thanks for anymore input on this stuff

Why are you considering shooting both? If the look of 24p is what you want, then do it all 24p. If you do, then you'll have the option of making a 24p DVD and you'll have no interlacing artifacts when played with a progressive-scan player on a progressive screen (won't matter if you watch on an interlaced screen). If you mix 24p and 30p, you'll have to make a 60i DVD, and then you'll get interlacing artifacts in the 24p material.
