Hi:

I'm having problems with my XH-A1. When the camera is in a record mode and i press record the camera is non responsive. Their is no warnings/bad tape messages on the display screen. I've tried several different tapes, made sure the lock switch/camera mode/tape mode is in the correct position. As well, when i load a tape in the camera, the display icons (timecode/rec/pause) appear on the screen for several seconds but then go away and is non responsive when i try to access the menu's. Consequently, it will only let me look through the menu's for the first several seconds unless i acess the menu's options right away. Does anyone have any suggestions or have been experiencing a problem like this? Any responses will be much appreciated.

I suggest speaking to Canon directly abt this. I had a fault with my A1 abt a month after buying it - it decided not to work when in camera mode - complete failure - no VF, nothing... It started off as an intermittent fault, but very soon turned full time! I took it in and they replaced some circuit board inside...

there are two lock switches on the camera. you checked them both?

One up on the handle side and one near the tape side.
