Would like XHA1 footage to be captured with scene breaks

Whenever capturing footage from my Canon HV20 I get separate files for each scene break. I like that. After upgrading to a Canon XHA1, the capture is one big long file. Anyone know what I can do to introduce the breaks when capturing the new footage?

I am shooting 1080i HDV. Final Cut Express is set to Apple Int. Codec 1080i60.

And given the fact that I can shoot footage on the HV20 and have no problems, I am apt to think its a setting on the camera. But I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out what would fix it. Thanks guys.

Is your timecode settings for recording setup in Rec Run or Free Run mode? I forget which one is which (you'll have to look them up in your manual) but one of them each time you start and stop the record button...picks up the timecode where it left off so yes it would be one long recording even if you are shooting a new shot somewhere else. Change the setting next time you shoot and you should be fine.

Unfortunately I tried both the free mode and the default and both produce the same result. What are the chances of some flaw in the camcorder? Seems kind of unlikely, but I have no other explanation.

Setup the Date and Time in the camera. Scene detect needs that to work. That's for future references though since footage captured while date and time aren't set won't be able to use scene detection.

DUDE!! Thanks you so much! What a stupid oversight on my part. I'm such a noob! Seriously though, thanks!
