Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Well John Connor has been training for it (even if he doesn't know it), has a very strong mother, knows about judgement day, and he knows a hell of a lot about terminators.

He knows how to sense them (with dogs), fight them (twice already so far), he knows how to hack, already knows how it happens, knows some of the resistance fighters (at least one), and probably some stories of battles. That alone would have helped.

Perhaps some political leaders had survived, but they know nothing about the threat, and know of no way to defend themselves if a Terminator came after them at the time of the resistance.

If he ends up as tough as his mother, I would want him to lead the resistance, that's for sure.

And as for Summer being hot or not, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find Britney Spears ugly as F, but I've heard some people actually find her hot... strange.

But I find Summer to be very attractive. She's not a typical looking girl, so I can see why some find her a bit weird looking.

I would say that all the Terminators coming back for him, over and over again, is pretty strong evidence.

That's only because he's been the leader so far. Doesn't mean there couldn't be another one just as good or better. Nature abhors a vacuum.

I mean, it doesn't seem to matter what the Connors do -- eliminate Dyson's work, skip through time, whatever -- Skynet still comes to exist and Judgment Day still happens. Perhaps the human resistance and the "great leader" are just as "inevitable" even if it's not the same person.

Oh no. She's hot. And weird. But definitely hot.

My thoughts exactly.

In reality, just moving a blade of grass could change the future drastically (butterfly effect). However, they play with the idea that perhaps, no matter how much time travel you have, it's almost inevitable that certain events play out. They may just play out differently. So perhaps there is something to fate. This is something they play a lot with.

If the future is dominated by vast armies of terminators, why do they only send ONE terminator back at a time to get John Connor?

And when ONE fails, and they send another one -- why don't they send the 2nd one back to the exact same moment in time that the first one was sent to? Wouldn't it be easier to find and kill Sarah Connor before she became aware the terminators were after her?

Do the Terminators of the future KNOW when Sarah became aware? As far as they know, Sarah could have always known or never known.

WE know when she became aware because there was a camera there to show us.

Here's another question I have. (I'm sure the experts have already dissected this somewhere.)

How is it that John Connor in the future can exist so as to send Kyle back to the present to impregnate Sarah so she will give birth to John Connor? Seems a bit "chicken-egg" to me.

You bring up a phenominal point, and really point out why my research has caused me to dislike the franchise. They have really just thrown the whole thing together willy-nilly.

Strangely, or to be expected, none of the site dealing with the story seem to touch on this - that I can find. It is conveniently avoided.

This is the closest I found:
6.3 If John gave a speech to Reese in 2029, who gave it to Sarah and
conceived John in 1984, and then Sarah told it to John, then who *wrote*
the bloody speech?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to classical physics, we have a classic paradox. No one wrote it,
everybody just memorized it. Assuming a multiverse, on the other hand, we
can posit that a future John Connor (whose mother encountered a Reese who
perhaps forgot the speech) *did* write the speech, and gave it to Reese.
Reese traveled back to 1984 in *another* universe, and gave it to Sarah
(which we saw in T1).

And for the record, I'm pretty clear on the chicken/egg thing. John Connor is another story.

My personal opinion? John Connor isn't really Kyle's son. Sarah was impregnated by some other fellow she had a one-night stand with. (The tramp!)

But if we want to play mind games, try this..........

There WAS no John Connor in the future. He was fabricated by Reese, who knew that they NEEDED a great leader to rally the humans to fight the machines. So he went back in time, targeting a suitable woman, and fed her the story -- hoping she would PRODUCE the John Connor that humanity so desperately needed. (Not suspecting that HE would actually get the opportunity to spawn that future hero.)

He was successful. Once that John Connor came into being and became the great leader Reese knew they needed, the machines (of course) uncovered the history of that John Connor -- and sent the terminator back to a point previous to Reese's arrival, to try and stop the plan.

Far fetched, I know.

Look at you!

Only thing I've seen that makes sense.

(Until Batutta comes in here and opens up a can of whoop-ass on us.)

It's called a "predestination paradox."

I don't think you realize what you just said, thats actually incredibly clever and would make probably the biggest twist in the entire Terminator saga if they played that sucker out. I doubt they would but what you said is entirely possible...

It's amazing what you can come up with when operating on no sleep at all.

It's an interesting idea, but given that the future JC was intended to appear in T2 (and there's deleted footage of him on the DVD, I believe), I think we can rule out the "cake is a lie" theory. :) Plus, if he never existed, then Skynet wouldn't be trying to kill Sarah in the first movie (unless Reese was so much of a BS'er that he managed to put on over on the computers :D ).

I think the reason more Terminators weren't sent back at a time was that there wasn't time. From the sound of things, both in T1 and T2 (and presumably T3 as well, although I'm really leaving that out of most of my theorizing regarding the show), the Resistance was right on top of Skynet's time machine as the Terminator in question was sent back. Now, in the show, there seem to be multiple Terminators and Resistance people operating in 2007, so they seem to be going in that direction.

One thought I've had regarding the "naked" Terminator head going through the portal--what are the odds that Skynet has upgraded the time machine since T1? If there's really "something about the field generated by a living being," and only the living skin of a T800 that lets it through, then how do you explain the T1000 or the T-X? Personally, I don't care how mimetic of a poly-alloy your liquid metal is, if there's some sort of physical law that limits your time machine to living beings, there's no way either of those gets through.

If John Connor is a lie cooked up by Reese, then there's no paradox at all.

What an AMAZING moment that would be in the show -- if Sarah Connor learned that Reese lied, and she's pretty much forced her only child into the role of savior of humanity!

But he's not. We've seen objective glimpses of the future.

But all three of them -- Sarah, John, Cameron -- entered the same time bubble with clothes and weapons and appeared on the other end naked and unarmed. I doubt that was by choice.
