Can dvx100a record via firewire to drive

Can my dvx100a record out to via firewire cable to firewire drive? I'm wondering whether this will work.
 
Not directly to a "dumb" firewire hard drive.

But to a "smart" device that understands the DV video signal, like a computer or a Firestore; yes.

I have one of the OLD FS4's with my set up, It can only capture 60i, but its great for weddings, I would recommend the newer one because they can capture 24p. my 40 Give I believe 128min of film time.
