I've wanted to do this for a while, and I've decided I'm ready to try it. Crew consists of myself and 3 others. Depending on the ability of my other crew members I may or may not be the camera op on this, as I'd prefer to be behind the monitor instead. We'll see how the test shooting goes.

Casting has commenced. Our actors:

Joe Vercillo - Mike
Joe will be playing the leading male role.

Lee Sanford - Sophie
Lee will be playing the lead female role.

I'll post updates as they come.

sounds good bro. keep us updated on everything. i'm actually looking for adult actors ( age 18-22) for my upcoming film. its kind of hard, especially being 16 also.

Hey man,

If you need any help for the film, I'll be glad to help you out. I'm not that far from you, so give a PM if you need any Filming/Editing assistance.

Good luck in the project, and it's good to see your auditioning adults.

Have fun with it!

Having some trouble finding a place to hold the auditions. Como, what building did you use? I'm thinking of trying the local rec center, but I think they probably charge to use rooms.

I'm working on being allowed to use my high school. My teacher would have to come in to supervise, but I think I may be able to do it. Failing that, any advice on approaching a church? I don't attend church and it's a rather vulgar zombie movie, so I'm unsure as to how willing they would be.

I'd imagine some sort of rec center being the best place to hold auditions, because r.centers tend to have "rooms" that you'd be able to call auditioners into and stuff. So look in Toronto for a rec center near by.

I've got my crew together, and I've secured a location for the auditions. I'm going to be holding them at my high school on a Friday evening, February 1. Putting up casting calls at the moment at mandy and craigslist, and getting some notices put up at local universities. In the meantime, I'll be storyboarding and doing test shooting.

Overnight, I've received 14 emails from people applying for all the roles all of the roles (including a surprising amount for zombies), 2 makeup artists, and one on-set photographer.

Looks like my worries of not being able to find any actors are pretty ungrounded.

Hey, I was so happy the next day when I received an amount of emails from people wanting to be in my film.

Good luck with it.

About 9 people who've committed to showing up so far. I'm a bit concerned with enough people showing up to put together a decent cast, but there's still a significant amount of time before the auditions and I'm sure I'll be able to work something out.

Just ordered 2 small panes of breakaway glass (one for the shot and an extra in case anything goes wrong), picking those up tomorrow.

We're up to 18 actors who have confirmed they'll be coming to the shoot. Taking into account those who won't show up, I'm pretty confident we'll have enough.

Breakaway glass is in (4 panes), 24 people are supposed to be at the audition, just modified (sanded off markings and painted) the air pistol we'll be using as a prop.

Did some test shooting yesterday to determine lighting setups and camera settings. We're going to be shooting at the standard 24p 1/48 shutter speed for the majority of it, and 24p 1/288 for all outdoor scenes and flashbacks because of the frantic motion it provides. See Saving Private Ryan D-Day landing for reference.

Also, a redhead 1k took a nosedive into the box of breakaway glass. Miraculously, nothing was broken.

We've deactivated it, and plan on drilling out the barrel to actual .45 dimensions (as well as placing a .45 casing in it to simulate a metal barrel).
