The Panasonic P2 Promo Shaft... A Vent...

Just remember that Panasonic is run like any other huge corporation/business, that is the bottom line is to get as much of your money while delivering the minimum cost to themselves.
They go with he flow of what their marketing people tell them and offer rebates to current buyers, and those who bought back when, are not even on the radar. They show little loyalty to the existing customer.
This is why you should show little or no loyalty in return. As long as they have the best camera (for now it is..) you should feel no compunction in seeking out "gray market" deals. And as soon as the competition has something better, you go to them.

I figure I've had two years of shooting some great looking HD footage while others are just getting into it.
Would it be nice to get a free P2 card? You bet, but I wouldn't trade all the footage I've shot with my HVX already for one.

Course, if someone would like to donate any P2 cards, I'd be happy to take them off your hands. :)

You got a camera and an 8 gig P2 card, what are you complaining about? i bought the camera in may of '06 and you know what I got? The HVX book. That's it. My friend bought his camera a few months later, got the camera, the HVX book, magic bullitt, colorista and an anton bauer battery package. Now people get 16 GB P2. That's technology for you.

When I bought my Powerbook in '05, the day I opened the package and started it up, I checked the apple site to find out that they had just announced the changeover to Intel. My powerbookw as already obsolete. A couple of months ago I bought a Mac Pro. I got it home, started it up, and found out that Apple is switching to a new, super-duper quick chip this month along with new, super-quick video cards. I don't complain, because that's technology.

Your camera was worth that to you when you bought it. No use complaining about how technology progresses, you're just pissing in the wind.

The battery was useless but i got an adapter for it and now power my firestore. I love the fact that they gave me colorista intint hd stinks though. 16gb has no room in my line of work so I wouldint care for it; but yes it does have a higher value so I can sell and buy something else; just remebr it's a promo. I felt shated on every pc part I ever bought once a year or two pass by. Just remebr the time when you opened that package up and had a smile you just couldint get ride of. That to me is priceless. (Dam i should do a card comercial)

But my question is... Why do they sell things pricier in the rest of the world while the prices in USD dollar country are cheaper. When it comes to cameras no (for the obvious tv system problem) but P2 media is cheaper if you buy it over there. So do they lose money (I don't think)?

Other example is sony whose cameras are swichable between countries. What happens? all the people buying in USA because is cheaper.

We in the US get the best deals on electronics by far. I really feel for all of our foreign compatriats because they get shafted on price and usually on promotions.

I received the battery, book and software. The battery is actually really handy when rail mounted on my Letus setup, of course I use Barry's book. The software? Eh, I don't use it but overall, it was a great promo. I would have rather had an 8 or 16GB P2 card but that's life. If you really want the best promos, be stubborn and wait for them. While you are waiting for the promos, the rest of us are out making lots of money and influencing world politics with our HVXs ;-)

I just poured some nice Vermont maple syrup on a pile of 300 gig hard drives for breakfast. Easy on the butter.
