A1 red fringing

When shooting HD in 60i, I'm noticing some red fringing on hard contrast lines (mostly vertical) in the left and right sides of the picture. This extends toward the center about 25% on either side. The center 50% seems to be fringe-free. I went back and looked at some of the first footage I shot with the camera in October and it's there too.

I know it's not a monitor problem since it's shown up on two different monitors and also in still images I've taken as reference.

Have you folks seen this in your footage or do I have a camera problem? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

the famous color Red.

here is the thing, shoot standard def, AVI format, you wont see it, shoot mpg format for HDV, it will be there. Same way people who shot with the dvx, on Mac, and captured it as mov had the red blockies too. But this is nothing i ever suffered from using AVI, except now for the A1's HDV codec.

Well, it seems I've answered my own question. It's a systemic problem with the camera lens. The problem's been reported on the DVi board.

But this poses another question. Is this common with other similar cameras in this league? i. e. Sony?

PaPa... Thanks for the info. Seems the JPEG codec has the problem too, since I see it in the stills.

Seems you've answered my second question too.

Thanks again.
