I just wanted to post the website and let people know about the 3-part behind the scenes of the short film that's in post called "The White Year".

There's also a teaser/trailer, prod. photos and movie stills, and some detailed info on it as well. The BTS is a link on the home page.

THE WHITE YEAR INFO:

Title: The White Year
Genre: Drama
Format: HDV
Release: 2008
Screenwriter: Chris Joseph Taylor
Director: Dominic Boubert
Producer: Chris Joseph Taylor

Gabe Tillman has finally ventured out on his own after a satisfying time spent in college and is now faced with a somewhat less satisfying professional life as a young independent bachelor. His chronic negativity stands in the way of a potentially fulfilling social life and even his "lifestyle counselor" neighbor sees a problem and offers her help. Finally, someone from Gabe's past drops back into his life and he sees it as a possible positive influence that could help him find his old self; but it's not quite that simple it turns out. There's a little more to the "influence" than what he thought and it's even at the expense of the life that he's finally achieved.

Production Notes:
This film is somewhat of an experiment in the technical sense for me and a lot of the guys working on it, having shot it on HDV and utilizing for the first time a still lens adapter with Nikon prime lenses. Shot in 10 days, mostly in the summer of '07, this film is the second project done under Adventus. Most of production took place in Victor Valley, CA (Victorville, Apple Valley, Hesperia) with a few scenes shot in Barstow and Death Valley.

The script was written in about a year's time but it started off as kind of a twisted love story. I later decided that I didn't like the romance idea so I changed the direction and the title and kept the premis. So in early '07 I started looking for a director and met with a few guys who were interested. I met Dominic and he had a lot of really cohesive ideas and best of all, really liked the story. We started pre-production around March and it took us about three months until we started shooting.

One of my favorite things about this project was the collaboration of local filmmakers and how it was entirely worked on right inside of California's Inland Empire, where most of us including myself reside. I was a little fearful in the beginning when I decided to shoot here, knowing I would have to use a local crew, thinking we might be sacrificing some of the quality, but I found a lot of talented people and I believe there to be an entirely different collective mindset having brought all these people along who don't live in the Los Angeles area. I think that created a really good feel during each shoot.

Im looking forward to hearing you, and viewing/downloading/buying this short film.

Trailer and BTS are awesome.

I'll try and call in to ask you some questions.

Love the website and BTS. Looks like you guys are doing big things. Can't wait to check it out. You guys make me wish I was out there in Cali. to work with you guys.

Thanks. We have a great editor on this thing so I think we're in for a treat.

There's too many people out here in CA doing this stuff. You do have an advantage being in OK believe it or not.....as long as you can find the right people.

Nice looking film, and the website is great as well! I loved the BTS video! Especially the part where the one girl was like "We thought we were shooting in the kitchen, so we started cleaning it up, then they said we weren't and I was like 'What the hell?'" (or something like that), and then they started laughing. Man, it made me wish I was there on set helping out. Looks like a nice crew; you guys must've had such a fun time shooting.
Can't wait to see the film!

Yeah, it's so much easier to make movies here, but if you want to do big things or make something happen with what you got the road is through LA. I understand what you mean about way too many people though. I got fam. and friends out that way and had a friend that was down there for years trying to do the filmmaking thing. He's living back here now.

I like how you showed the BTS and then the edited version, really love and appreciate the stuff you're doing here. Thanks.

Thanks man I appreciate that.

Part III should be edited and posted in the next couple of weeks. The last part is the last day of shooting. I really wish we had some video coverage of a couple days in between there. It's out in Death Valley though so it's definitely one of the more interesting days.
