I finally got to place my order this morning from B&H. I ordered an HVX (came with free 16GB P2 card) a pelican 1610 case, 9 hour battery, and overnight shipping. All for $5400; not bad. I am looking forward to posting some footage. Thanks to everyone that helped me while I was trying to decide what to get.

Just Got It!

I just opened the box, well, more like 3 boxes, and I am ecstatic. The 16 GB P2 card was in box like promised and also a little surprise I wasn't expecting. I got a copy of the HVX book by Barry too. Nothing against Speccom, I got my HVX through a student discount at B&H for $4999 so I decide to go with them. Thanks for everyone's help, and in the days to come I am sure that I will be on here with all kinds of Q's.
 
I am definitely ordering from spec-comm... I am saving my money as well.
I am including the 2nd p2 card, and later on I want to get both the hvx glove, and a pelican case, I was looking on b&h for this:

Its not what you have, its what you can DO with what you have. On the other hand if you have something superior, and can use it to it's potential, The world is your Oyster.

We dumped our Sony DXC-D30 betacams while they still had value two years ago. We picked up a pair of HVX's as an even dollar to dollar trade out. I was extremely nervous at the time. I thought my customers would no longer take me seriously with this little camera. After all, Big Cameras = Big Buck shoots right? Wrong! The HVX's small size and effecient method of aquisition-to-post has shaved thousands of my consumable/digitizing bills as well as allows me to do things I could not do with a large shoulder cam.

I have never looked back nor regretted it for a second. Especially with all the Adapters and Gadgets out there today. These cameras are not only a ball to shoot on, but a smart business decision IMHO. There is still a window of opportunity out there to make more money by simply flipping a button from SD to HD. (and buying a good HD field monitor) That window of opportunity wont last forever and is currently, something no other camera under 12 grand can do. My Digibeta customers are happy with DVCPro50, and I now have HD customers too.

BTW, the scene file setting wheel? We call it the Money Button.
