Can viewfinder be turned off during extended timelaps

I have the HVX mounted on the wall doing time laps recording of the construction of an art project. The camera will be on 12 hours a day for 8 weeks. I was wondering is there a way to turn off the view finder (while the camera is on) so that I don't "burn" or damage the viewfinder.

note: while the camera is on, it is not recording. The time laps capture is being done by the attache FS-100. So the camera is on but idle. Thank you

I've wondered about this myself. It would be a useful feature, but as far as I know, while the camera is on, either the viewfinder or the lcd is also on and there is no way to turn them off.

Well since they're LCDs and not tubes, you don't risk "burning in" an image. The only real wear and tear would be on the light source (and those are rated for a very long time).

dont now about the viewfinder with that long of a run is ac an option plus that eliminates touching the camera to do battery changes

Actually, an auto-off feature in the menu might be more desirable. Otherwise I don't think I'd figure out how to turn it back on!

yes, Something like when the computer screen goes black and you have to move the mouse to get it back.

Or how about have it turn off the EVF if you hold down the "EVF Detail" button for, say, 5 seconds.

Though you do have the issue of possibly bumping the camera. So maybe have it initiated or turned off from the IR remote might be better.

Maybe holding the "OSD" button on the remote for 5 seconds could toggle the EVF & LCD on/off?

Luis our new moderator may add it to the new list of features for a new HVX200.

A single one touch button on the remote control would be nice to prevent camera movement. And mabee a cup holder (Cup holder on the remote only, this is very important to prevent camera movement) for my halfcalffrapachinolatee'/dublelatee'/halfcaff... Yes, Im a pain in the you know what at Starbucks...
