my Ninja versus Transformers movie (VFX)

And I paid 10 bucks to see Transformers in theatres Why?

Well, I didn't actually..

But this was crazyily sweetly amazingly good!

Well done!

thanks for all the nice words!

John, I started work on the robot in february...so it took something like 10 months to design, model, rig and texture.

Animation took the least amount of time. I did not focus on character animation so I worked until it was passeable.

The rendering was not bad either, but I rendered out 8-10 passes for each shot. The color, reflectivity, shadow, mask...etc and spread out the work over a number of computers... so it would take about 3 or so hours to render each shot out at standard def.

Shooting...the story behind this is that I originally was going to shoot this in HD 3-D stereoscopic. some logistical problems...I had to scrap that and shoot it with a crappy 3-D lens in standard def, field sequential 3-D, and so after I separated the fields, working with one side was so bad (extremely low rez) that I ended up using the practice footage shot with my DVX for my thesis.. oh well...

Thats really cool man, just tryna guess what the transformer transforms into? Was it part of the design or was it just modelled as a robot?

Young-H,
I remember you from the forums a few years ago and being impressed with your work... You've improved a lot from then, which is saying a lot.

This clip is badass, great job man.

Sickness!! Very well done! I would love to see a complete indie film done with this kind of professionalism in CG.

thanks a lot everyone,

my hope is to remake this into a 5 minute short with more ninjas in a forest or something. ninja war movie with giant robots, i mean, damn, you can't go wrong!!

I remember you, awesome stuff were this rendered with your own computers or was it at school?
