Brandnew HVX out of the box: Zoomhandle broken?

I just took my brandnew HVX out of the box and tested the zoom handle:

it works in position 1 and 3. But no movement in position 2.

Is it broken or could it be something else?

There should be a menu setting that disables the 2nd position. Check that first.

Look in the Set Up Menu under Handle Zoom; it sounds like you have 2 set too OFF

I think it is

DISPLAY SETUP > ZOOM - FOCUS

Camera setup menu only has one item: aspect conv (set to normal)

In display setup is only zoom-focus, which can be set to mm/feet etc

HANDLE ZOOM: Sets the zoom speed assigned to each of the three switch positions on the zoom handle, namely positions 1, 2, and 3: L/OFF/H sets #1 to low speed, #2 to OFF, and #3 to high speed L/M/H sets #1 to low speed, #2 to medium speed, and #3 to high speed L/OFF/M sets #1 to low speed, #2 to OFF, and #3 to medium speed Zoom is disabled when set to OFF

Any ideas of what needs to be checked next, to be sure the camera is flawless?


I´ll check CCD alignment later, all pixels in display are OK.

So far I am happy.

So that people don't unintentionally zoom when using the handle.

I always leave mine off and switched in 2 mode, unless I want a super-slow zoom and don't have my rocker handy. If I want a medium zoom, I'll just use the larger zoom on the body.
