First Short Film Trailer -The Blackout

Watched the trailer. I didn't really understand what put him over the edge, but maybe that's the intent. Liked the opening and congrats on getting something out there.

I see what you were going for with the opening, but it just came across as cheesy. Different font, and more than the text just blurring would help.

Nice Shaun of the Dead reference with the taking the smirnoff out of the fridge, but again it came off as cheesy because the whoosh didn't fit.

It doesn't seem to really do its job as a trailer, as it pretty much shows the entire story (or it seems to). Guy's girlfriend breaks up with him, he drinks and drives, gets in an accident. Where's the hook?

The choice of music at the beginning fit pretty well.

Colour correction was a bit strong... very green. Maybe change that up a bit.

Footage itself pretty good, could definitely be improved with some better editing.

Well first off I threw this together in five minutes because my friends wanted to see how I was coming along.

I didn't get a chance to adjust the audio levels at all.

As for the colors
I wanted to give it an eerie feeling so I white balanced to purple.

And for the short film in general
My roommate who has nothing to with film at all
filmed most of it.
Basically we were bored one day and this is what we came up with.
This is our first short film ever.

Story
Guy cheats on his girlfriend, she breaks up with him, he wants her back,
starts drinking, blackouts, decides to go see her all pissed off and drunk, gets into car accident.

Thanks for the comments and criticized.
Must appreciated.

Cause his girlfriend kind of broke up with him??? Maybe?

Sound effects were cheesy.

And using Vodka, twist, makes it look kind of cheesy, and made the guy look extra young.

I just find that teenagers drink to much Vodka, especially Vanilla twist or what ever, and this guy looks a little older.

Whiskey would be good.

Is it seriously that bad for a first short ever?

I mean come on we didnt plan any of it out. It was spur of the moment thing.

No, it's not "bad", especially given the context. Much better than most first attempts. When people tell you what they thought could be fixed, they're just helping you out. Just don't expect compliments on it unless it's actually "good".
