Will useing a cheap "JVC GR-D347U" Mini DV to rewing and transfer to computer

Will using a cheap "JVC GR-D347U" Mini DV to rewind and transfer to computer "to save wear on heads on my DVX100B diminish the quality of the transfer. If so, how is everyone else doing it? I'm new. Thanks!

I don't think the quality will be diminished, but cerainly you will save wear on your dvx heads. Will wait for other to chime in.

Quality will not be affected. The main difference between a good DV cam and a crap DV cam is the camera & processing which you are not using when playing a tape feeding out to DV. This is a practice used quite often to save wear on your expensive camera mechanics...

I use a Canon ZR500 as my capture source to save the life of my cameras heads.
It works fine but have had a couple dropout issues...recaptured the video no prob.
Digital signal is digital signal

aren't there lube issues here? this means that the capture camera must only use whatever take the dvx takes right? (assuming you would need to reuse the tape)

Your frame rate, frame size (aspect ratio), and quality will not be affected going from a DVX to a crappy capture camera.

So I should be able to transfer 24pA footage with a crap cam? Can they deal with the pulldown removal and all that or doesn't it make a difference.

Hey all,

To those asking. Yup, you can. I use an old Canon ZR80. That and I use a rewinding device to get my tapes back to 00:00:00.00

I don't do anything with my DVXs except record and that's it.
