What tapes for xha1?

Can you use standard minidv tapes or do you need a particular kind? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks.
 
no worries, i think we all had that question at the beginning. The truth is, HDV tapes are just made with more reliable tape. I don't know the specifics of it, but the fact is it is supposed to reduce the number of dropouts you get on HDV, as we all haev experience, lasts for half a second, so,, dropouts can become cumbersome.

However..

I have only ever used MAxell mini dv tapes ( the red packaging ) on both my dvx and A1, and i suggest that whichever you end up using, stick to that particular brand as to save some life time on your cameras recording heads.
