Speculating (soap opera style)

Juan, in a recent exchange of words with a poster in the reel-stream forum, responded:

"maybe you already have" - to a "hope"this poster had on using Juan designed equipment for his new company.

Well, what company's products on the market uses similar methods to reel-stream to achieve High resolution pictures?...

Pixel shifted SD CCD's to HD anyone?

Exactly. I believe the Andromeda/Hydra technology was bought by Panasonic!

Of course, no proof, just fun speculation! What dos this mean to us consumers? Nothing at all. Why? With cameras like RED or the upcoming RED Mini, it makes no sense to kill this type of technology, since cameras with different technology and at affordable price ranges achieve fantastic reel stream like results.

I believe the purchase of reel-stream would mean a better use of its technology in future broadcast products... Lets wait and see...

no one knows yet (about the pocket red). Just announced. No other real details yet. Probably a ways off, being how busy they are with RED One.

Later,
Jason

Nothing announced yet.
Maybe if RED did buy Juans technology???
So having a RED reservation is good now that
HVX won't get any better?

Red is changing the industry for higher end cameras (huge resolution at a great price). If they go after the under 15 thousand dollar market and deliver a high quality product, they will really shake up the industry. When will Sony or Panasonic get smart and buy RED? Now that would be scary!!!

Someone has been smoking Hydraponic Marijuana. Anyone get that? "hydra" ponic, Mari "Juan"a... We need someone to make a short 10 min comedy about this thread!

Best "soap" in years!

Now that this thread is over lets change it to "What's your favorite beer / my mom can beat up your mom (she will kick your ass BTW)!"

Best wishes Juan :)! (what's your favorite beer?)

Now that this thread is over....

Woah...over?
Says who?
:)

We still don't know who bought it, or who Juan is going to work for now.
You don't give this board enough credit if you don't think there are still pages of unsubstantiated rumor and speculating that can go on from here...

Luis,

Stop... What is your favorite beer?

Why didn't you quote this line from me?

Someone has been smoking Hydraponic Marijuana. Anyone get that? "hydra" ponic, Mari "Juan"a...

Luis,

Stop... What is your favorite beer?

I'm not much of a beer drinker.

I'm more into energy drinks and fortified water

Ha!

Great pic, I'd order that water but I'm not sure if the company is still in business :)

Why doesn't someone make a Jerry Springer 10min short comedy about this thread?

From Hydradirect.com

It was a "LOVE PILL" viagra for HVX
Now nobody is perfect without it, Therefore every one should ingest Hydra vodka for now on and forget the past.

If the Hydra becomes the new Red mini [unlikely], or

If it becomes a new Hydra-ted successor of the Panasonic HVX200, that would be nice.

And comparable prices and all.

Wishful thinking, probably.

Concerning Sony or Panasonic buying RED... I doubt that this guy built RED to sell it... doesn't seem likely... given that RED becomes a whole new player in the field, but... who knows...

Someone answer this question PLEASE:

Is the Technology a patent or only the name? Someone else with the same savvy could do it, then there's no one to stop them, right?
Well, you can't really patent taking a signal off the chips.
Then again, that was never the biggest struggle with Andromeda - if I remember correctly, what took Juan so long to perfect was what to do with that signal once he had it.

I imagine that the method in which its done (i.e. the software) is what is protected.
Then again, I'm no attorney.
Juan has filed for a patent on Andromeda. Furthermore, it's intended to cover derivative technology like Hydra; from section 0079: "While this invention has been described as having an exemplary design, the present invention may be further modified within the spirit and scope of this disclosure. This application is therefore intended to cover any variations, uses, or adaptations of the invention using its general principles. Further, this application is intended to cover such departures from the present disclosure as come within known or customary practice in the art to which this invention pertains." As I understand it, the only thing preventing approval is evidence of "prior art," that is, functionally similar technology proven (e.g., via published research) to exist before his patent application. Short of that, good luck trying to duplicate his results without violating his patent.
