I gotta get me one of those helicopters. Can you buy them at B&H? I really want an Apache but with cameras mounted in place of the gun turrets.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Awesome pix!

Beautiful setting - Is that in the Los Angeles area ?

A bit north and to the west. About an hour and half away, an area called Santa Paula. I guess its around Ventura and Oxnard. Its all farmland and ranches. This one happened to belong to a former movie producer who is friends with the director.

And yes...gorgeous land. I could only dream of own such acreage of gorgeous hills and green...I'd buy a Yamaha Rhino and be out trekking around everyday.

I know that area, having grown up in LA/SB and worked there for a long long time. It is nice country, but check back in few months, those "green" hills won't be green, they'll be brown as hay. It'll have a totally different vibe.

also, anyone how much do those little choppers rent for? it's an hourly rate with a pilot?

The price is 209k$ for a brand new one. Operating cost is about the one of a expensive car.

So find a car that cost alot, find out our much is to rent with a driver and multiply until you get to 200$ for it brand new ;)

Also, they are limited to 400lbs total

Awesome stills!

Last pic with the pilot was humorous - is he wearing the largest helmet you've ever seen?

I guess we shooters are expendable as he didn't get one...

+1 very cool stills, and i think the helmet is so huge bacause the chopper is so small!

That heli is tiny! I'd be a bit scared as I'm deathly afraid of heights.

Great pics. More would be even better. That setup is so damn sweet. Tim

What would like to see. I took nearly 300 photos, and have about 120 of them hosted. I'm sure I can accomodate requests. :D

The helmet also has the audio built into it for communication while flying.

I'd like to see some still of the copter, esp if you have some of people shooting from it. thanks.

This shot looks awesome when viewed fullsize/screen

man, I still can't get over that dinky thing! You sure it's real? I keep looking for a support cable. Did you photoshop it out?

I sure hope that guy is strapped in, I use to be a Fireman and they'd take us up in hueys do these bank turns with the side door open. Use to scare the hell out of me.

The DP was strapped in...doubled with a safety strap, and and another harness on the camera.

The Director/Pilot is a gentleman by the name of Wade Eastwood. Look him up on imdb...I trust the guy implicitly.
