So apparently I've run into quite the unique problem, I've looked ALL over the internet and have not been able to find a solution or anyone with the same problem for that matter...
We shot an infomercial onto three FS-100s using three HVX200s... we also had FCP 6 up and running on a MacBook Pro, ready to upload any footage should we begin running out of space... the problem I encountered when I went to import the files was thus:
ONE of the FS-100s worked fine, I pulled up the log and transfer, I saw the preview, I dragged the footage to the import box and away it went... but when I got to the OTHER two FS-100s... well, I opened log and transfer, the preview window came up just fine and I could even play back the clips in their entirety in the preview window, but when I tried the drag the files down, the little indicator watch would spin for a second and just plain stop... I'd then click on the queued item and the indicator would turn to a triangle warning sign and the warning message would say "Data Missing" All three FS-100s have the exact same firmware version and settings...
Needless to say, I panicked... the effin' data was there, I had JUST watched a preview of it... what the hell?
anyway, i SCOURED the web in search of an answer, but to no avail... nothing could help me with my problem (well, nothing I didn't have to spend $500 on) it was seriously ridiculous... I mean, the only way to get the .mxf's or whatever they are, onto my hard drive as a playable, editable format, for free... is with FCP (I couldn't find an alternative solution)
3 hours of footage, sitting right there at my fingertips and I couldn't do a thing.
What's also strange is I had tested the whole set-up before hand- to be sure it worked, and it did... anyway, I'm rambling.
To cut a long-winded story short, I went to my G5 tower which was still running FCP 5.1... as a last ditch effort I thought I could try it on an older version of FCP... and you know what?
it effin' worked.
I imported the footage on to an external drive than brought it into FCP 6 on the other computer, and cut away- (which presented some other issues, but that's a different story for a different forum)
Okay... so is there ANY one out there that has a solution to my problem?? the only thing I can think of is that there is a firmware issue on one of the HVX's (the one that actually worked importing is actually an older version of the firmware... not compatible with the 16GB P2 card... but the FS-100 it was using worked...)
Am I wrong? HELP ME! I don't want to have to keep FCP 5.1 when we've payed for the effin' upgrade.
