LoveFest Rules

Obviously... but then perhaps the Valentine's Day fest is not the right one for them?

Romantic love doesn't mean the film has to be a blatant gushy romance, obviously. No requirement for romantic comedies here. But if you're asking what the central structure of the "love" requirement is, it's fairly obvious that it should be a relationship between two human beings founded on love.

Barry_S has offered some clarification here:

He also said "love of inanimate objects is right out."

He also said further clarification would be coming this weekend.

Yes, but Larry said here http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=1101896&postcount=25 that a bunch of Sleepless in Seattle films aren't desired and that there should be variations of the theme. Looks like he also previously answered my recent question (love of country) and named other forms of love.

Personally, from the discussions thus far I don't think romantic love between two people is a requirement even tho it's Valentine's Day. I think if that was the goal then it should be called ValentineFest or something. Of course, Barry_S and Larry would have to clarify.

Barry I think the problem is love is hard. It is a tough subject really, but It will be great to see what people will come up with. I don't think they will be your normal Lifetime channel stuff!!

i agree. i guess it'll just be best for me to wait for the official rules.

I'm not certain what else you might be waiting for...but these are the official rules.
A theme of love - I thought it was pretty clear.

If anyone has a question as to whether or not a specific story fits the rules then ask Larry or Barry_S.
They are the only ones who can give you an official yes or no.

Is showing the DVD box of Doctor Zhivago or having a poster of Doctor Zhivago a copyright violation?

Hi Barry

"The festival category is a short film with the theme of LOVE. Films can be in any genre as long as the theme is love."

Does this mean Love could be your cat , dog , house , car , motorcycle, your mother , sister etc.
What are the limitations ?
Where do draw the line on LOVE .
By the sound of the rules this is wide open . correct?

I'm not sure if we are going to try and do one but I thought I'd ask what the limitations are first.
Thanks Barry
Ian

Inanimate objects have already been ruled out. Doesn't have to be a romantic relationship, but it should certainly be at least between two humans, so romance or family bonds would both qualify. Dogs & cats are out.

Again, the fest opens valentine's day, so that's probably a good guide.

That reminds me Barry. Mine has a part of a guy who gets really beat up in a realistic fashion. And I was so impressed by your performance in Unawakening, I was hoping you would come up and audition...:)

I see Dogs and cats are out. I guess that narrows down my decision of which film idea to make to just my original idea.

I'll be posting some clarifications tonight. I thought I had it down, but I've gotten some PM's that raised interesting questions about use of the theme. If you're exploring any type of relationship between two people where love is an issue for one or both parties--that definitely fits the theme. Beyond that I'll try to clarify in my post tonight.
