Bokator Movie Trailer with DVX100.

I absolutely love martial arts films so this one caught my attention. The trailer looked very well put together! It looks like a cool film.

The site looks really well done. I can't get the trailer to play though, probably just my work computer blocking it.

Thanks guys, the movie is in post production at the moment. tmnt, check ur system wheather you have current QT installed if not, go the link on the trailer page. Good luck.

Wow. Intro, great job on that. Nice music, nice edit.

Explain, DVX right? Settings? Lighting? Editing? camera settings?

TheComo, Thanks for your feedbacks. Frankly nothing spectacular about the setting, believe it or not, we have only 14 days to shoot, mostly in remote areas of Phnom Penh. We didn't use any lightings at all, all were natural lights the secret lies within AE one of the newest and smartest filer called Hightlight/Shadow which made everyone thinks i use expensive lightings. The DVX setting were mainly swaping F5 or F6 according to the surroundings, CC in AE is crucial bit, which has more freedom and easy to use. For Editing i'm stil using Premiere 6, which i think its good enough for the job. Hope that would help.

I agree with the GREAT intro and effects, music, and edit. Unfortunately, the shots themselve's don't seem to be on par with the rest of it. From the limited martial arts shots I saw, they didn't look great (although I could be wrong... there just wasn't much to critique).

The dude's Farmer's Tan (or should I say BURN) looked awful in the bar/hut scene, and the closeups of the main guy weren't doing it for me (acting wise). There were some other good shots in there, though, so I'm a bit intrigued to see more...

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks guys, for all kinds of feedbacks, really appreciated. Stil crafting my skill. This is a micro budget and its a short film/docu. I wish i have long days to shoot, this may give me more extra time in post production. Cheers

just a technical note for your trailer, if the idea is to mimic an MPAA approved theatrical trailer, you should know that the MPAA does not allow fades or dissolves on the green card. it must be straight cuts and exactly five seconds long (no more, no less) followed by a minimum of 1 second of black before picture or audio for the trailer begins.

Great advice Zak, will keep that in mind.

sure, no prob. i cut trailers for a living from time to time so it's ingrained in my psyche. also know that studios are only allowed one trailer a year that is over 2:30 including green card. so most every trailer out there is about 2:20 - 2:30 average.

The trailer was very well made, the sound effects were good and the voice was pretty nice as well:)

Though I think that when I saw some of the actual film footage.. I wasn't that impressed.. The fight scene with the sunburned guy etc.. Like I think it could use some color grading and maybe you could track the sunburned guy and make his arms more brown..?

I don't know..

anyways.. I think you did a nice job:)

keep'em coming!
