Should I sell my DVX 100a?

Hello,

I have been working as Production Manager for a small production company for some time and have access to DVX 100B, HVXs and a new HPX 500. All of these cameras are available to me to use independantly when I am not out on a shoot, testing or working in the office. For indie shoots I work with the HVX200/Brevis35 combo but still have my DVX 100A.

I bought my DVX 100 a in the summer of 2005 and have used it for 3 independant films, 2 weddings and about 5 family home videos. I love the camera, but I have only used it 2 times since starting work and with good tape heads and in good condition, I can either keep it for random family use or try to sell it.

My basic question is, how much is the DVX 100A worth and for all the DVX 100A users is it worth keeping?

I can't help but think that it would be nice to have around for different things that might pop up. For example, if in the future you decide to take a trip to Europe or something, it would be nice to bring it with you since you probably couldn't bring any of the other camcorders from that company. But I dunno, it depends how attached you are to it, and how important it is for you to still have it on hand.

I've kept both camera's that I used to shoot my features even though i'll never use them again. To me they're like artifacts from my past.

your dvx100a is a tool.

when u have moved beyond using it as a tool it is time to sell.

i'd take the $1200-$1700 you'd get from ebay/craigslist and purchase another tool (mic/light/mixer) or save up for the next generation of video camera.

just one person's opinion.

be well

thanks

thanks

Thank you all.

I can always keep the DVX, but I may end up inheriting two other ones within a year. So I will check E-bay and Craigslist in a couple of weeks and sell if I really need to.
