HV20 Help!

Hi, so i just got my HV20 - ( did anyone else find the manual to be useless?!) I was wondering if someone could explain to me how to change the frame rate from 25 to 60 - ive looked through and i have no idea where the menu bit is in the functions menu...fraustrating.

I don't think 25 to 60 is possible.

25 (and 50) is for a PAL based HV20. Whereas 60 (and 30) is for NTSC.

So you can do 50i or 60i depending on which version of the camera you have. Or 24 progressive if you want to really be cool. lol

But the way you change it is by putting it in camera mode, clicking the Function button, using the joystick to select "Menu", go to REC/IN Setup (2nd on the list), and the first option (above wind screen) should be HD STANDARD. Click it. The settings are HDV, HDV (PF24), DV (WIDE) and DV (NORMAL). Click the first HDV option. It should be 50i or 60i depending on your camera.

I've only had my camera for about two weeks so I could be wrong about some of this info. But I hope it helps. Good luck.
 
aha brilliant, thanks! im in a much better mood now.. Maybe you can help with somthing else. I got a usb 2.0 cable with my HV20 and it wont recognise the camera when i plug it in, i had no idea you could import HD footage on a usb cable.. is there some sort of driver i need?

i think i may need "avcstrm.sys" and "mstape.sys" files for the drivers folder in system 32
 
As Kyle said, the USB is for photos/sd card.

On the right side of the camera you'll see a switch that has a tape and sd card icon. That is a very important switch because it determines if you'll be transferring (or recording) to tape or to the SD card.

To transfer photos flip the switch to the card position and plug n the USB cable. Your computer should recognize it when the camera is turned on the "Play" position.

To transfer video from the tape, plug in the firewire cable (on the back) flip the switch to the tape position, and turn the camera on Play. Your camera or editing software should "hopefully" recognize the connection. If not (like mine) you might need to use something like HDVsplit to capture your footage.

ah ok, thanks for the help. Im surprised that they didnt supply me with a firwire cable though, as in the manual it doesnt mention it and it says i can import tape with the usb 2.0 cable...
