Ok so I am the proud owner of a XHA1
My question is, when recording in 1080i 24f I am not able to digitize the footage into FCP 5.1.4 even with using the down convert.
Is it me ?
Is it my version of FCP " seeeing how its not an HD version"
or is it just some other wierd occurance?

Do you have to use down convert to capture 24f 1080i or can you record in it and digitize with out using the down convert ? If so what do I need in able to do so ?

Going into "Easy set up" put it to 1080p24 and it should do the trick just fine for capturing HD. 5.1.4 in final cut handles my HD, so maybe I missed something when you said that your version 5 didn't handle HD. As for any further questions on FCP I'd post your question in in FCP thread on the main page, I get more answers there. Hope this helps.

I use Vegas not FCP but to clear things up. Enabling down convert on your camera means that you should be trying to import DV through your normal way, not through HD capture. You will recieve a .mov. HDV is .m2t.

In sony vegas you choose between HD capture and DV capture. It took me a while to get HD capture working as vegas 7 seemed to not recognize it sometimes when I started the software first or something.

There's something i guess...
