Hey Noah,
Sorry I couldn't make it last weekend and it looks like I missed some fun.
I like the hanging lights and the background walls.

I don't know Noah, I watch all your stuff and while it is well executed I think that the band performance video is getting to be an old horse (not just with your body of work, it's universal). I feel like your Janus video is much better and it's my own personal meter of which to judge your work by. The lead in this vid doesn't seem to have any energy at all. The angle was lit nice, but it was somewhat trivial. There wasn't enough of a narrative to justify her being there.

Nice visuals, but the idea needs to be expanded. Work on the compression on this one, for some reason it is very block-y compared to the other's on your site.

And can you describe your process from going out of your editor to AE and them back in?

it is shot really well.

what were the squiggley lines on the frames - were they hand drawn or just film burns of sorts used an an overlay layer?

only thing i'm not a fan of is the singer singing to the actress - but that is just my personal opinion.

solid video!

Cool stuff. I'd love to shoot metal videos. I especially dig the post filtering work (esp in Black Autumn).

Tip for compression.
H 264 codec
set key frame to ten times the frame rate. 24 fps. Key Frame 240.
You can get away with bit rate up to 1000-1300 these days now that everyone is broadband.
You can even increase you dimensions as well.

Concerning the "Performance" vid. Nothing wrong with it, just these days you really have to come at it with a new angle to get noticed. I myself am not a huge narrative video fan. I think videos are generally a lousy format for storylines. It can get tired fast unless things are changing all the time (light, angle, set ups, etc). Or the concept or artist just has to be so compelling you can watch it for a while (Coldplay - Mark Romanek, Prince Red Corvette, )

I was wondering if there was a narrative in there myself and due to lack of time or shooting two videos in two days if some of the concept was left behind...... While I think the video is clean and shot well. I feel like the angel was a nice piece of eye candy that maybe could've played a bigger part in the video...... Im unsure what the concept is on this one.... but it looks nice....

Second Autumn Offering video will be premiering on April 5th on MTV2 Headbanger's Ball. Straight performance video. Be sure to check it out, link coming soon...
