This is an excellent short. As it played, I thought I might have known what was happening to this man, or perhaps happened before. The technical is so well done, I found it really easy to stay within the story.

The moving compositions were as well executed as the statics, so kudos to both Andy and Marco. Was everything accomplished in the HVX200? The Super8 treament is terrific. I shot a ton of S8 over the years and you really nailed the cadence.

In the end, I'm really concerned about what happened to Frank and that says a lot.

Very, very good. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful film. Moving story. Very pleasing to the eyes and ears.

Great job... I recommend watching this one!

cool short.

was the music done by local composers or is the music from a movie or album sold in stores?

what did you use for the shots of the fireman? a glidecam?

i love the film and the music...what is the name of that song? how'd you get the super 8 effect? did you use a plugin or AE?

Music is "The Dead Flag Blues" by GYBE on the album F#A#OO. Man, I listened heard them in a while (still gives me chills), but to anyone who appreciates 20 min chamber rock compositions I HIGHLY recommend ANY of their stuff (also Set Fire to Flames, Silver Mt. Zion, Rachel's, Do Make Say Think).

Really enjoyed the film, great usage of the music. How did you achieve those 8mm shots? True 8mm? If not what affects in what system did you use (FCP, Nattress, AF), for the damaged film footage?

Great job!

WOW! THAT IS TOTALLY AMAZING! THIS FILM IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT FOR ME, IT'S THE TYPE OF FILM YOU WILL NEVER SEE IN THE MAINSTREAM BECAUSE OF IT'S LOOSE NARRATIVE AND YET IT'S SO POWERFUL THAT YOU JUST HAVE TO CONTINUE TO WATCH! NICE MONTAGUE!

Great concept. Let me ask you, was the footage of the family shots real? I got the impression that the shots of the family were done before the story was made.

If you tied real home movies into a story as the memories of the main character then I am really impressed with your inventive style.

J'ai bien aimé, bravo !! Nice little short, good story, well shot, nice music and nice ambience.

Thanks for the compliments! Great and positive comments! That makes me happy :-)

Thanks e! We shot everything on the HVX200. No Super8 used.. tho we did at first plan to capture some of the memories or atmospheres on S8. The reason we didn't was because of time restriction (the film is due tomorrow Nov 14).

Hazelwould answered it! and also gave great recommendations that are really worth checking out.

Besides GYBE we used Jon Murphy for the "childish" memories which it gives a big contrast with the very harsh "Godspeed You Black Emperor".

Yep Glidecam was used for all the moving shots.

True 8mm? If not what affects in what system did you use (FCP, Nattress, AF), for the damaged film footage?

We used FCP by playing around with color correction and gradients. Credits to Andy Holmes.

That is an awesome comment!
Thanks!

I'm curious to know what others have to say about this

i assumed the memory shots were just footage you used from some wedding over in Italy or something before the movie was made.

great film, the quality of the films you upload here is really stunning. Music and the overall image quality is... well no words.
(I wish I had a HVX, well currently svaing for one)

Probably the best short I heve seen on here. Too bad you didn't have the time to get actual 8mm footage. Music is excellent, really fits the mood. What to say...I could have watched more.
