Hey guys! I am happy to announce that my first feature film Lost Mission has just landed a distribution deal. The film should be available for rental and purchase in a few months. Hopefully we will have info in the coming weeks about the details of the release and the contents of the DVD.

You can watch the trailer on Youtube here:

All shot on the DVX-100a!!

Thanks!

how arduous a task was it?

For the kind of movie we made - no stars, no money, just a story we liked and some elbow grease - it wasn't that bad. We shot the movie in December 2005, came back and I basically cut and posted the movie myself for about eight months. About eight months later we had a distribution rep. And six months after that, we signed a deal. So all in all I feel very fortunate.

Thanks!

Way to go...you worked hard and it paid off. Nice.

Thanks!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!

Can you tell us what distribution means money wise? I mean I don't want the exact amount but a ball park figure of the deal you got if you don't mind. I am always curious about how much a feature at this level can bring in dollar wise. This will give all of us an idea of what to expect when making deals ect.

Again, congrats and hope to see it in stores soon.

Sid

Thanks everyone!

It's a few thousand dollars upfront (our total budget was only $15K), and we get a percentage of the gross (not net). We won't get rich off the deal, but to be honest it's more than we expected.

Frankly, I'm just glad that someone saw the film and liked it enough to want to pay real money for it. I hope others who rent it or buy it enjoy it as well. For my first feature film, that was really my ultimate goal.

Little bit of news: We just got the go ahead from the distributor to include an audio commentary. I'm really looking forward to this one. I'll try to make it interesting!

Congrats on the deal, and getting to see your project come to fruition. I'll keep my eyes open for it. But, if it sucks... I know where to find you

Well done selling your film. Did you ever blow up your film to 35mm or keep it on tape? I have the HVX 200 and think it's a great camera for promo work and docs but am not so sure on films.

I have seen November and Lonesome Jim and they both looked good and felt like films so I guess I just need to see a film shot on it.

If you could go back and do the film again would you still shoot it on video? Has shooting on video made it more difficult in selling your film?
