first Letus extreme footage

out of curiosity i wanted to see if i could see the same bokeh characteristics on the m2,and sure enough i clicked on the first sample clip on thheir site and the highlight were doing the same thing as the letus extremes.the big plus to me about the extrme though is stopping down to f4 if that what you want to do won't be a big deal at all for inside shoots being that you have alot more light sesitivity to play with.but in my findins today,I'm pleased with doing f2.8 in most circumstances. and also remember, the majority of people are not looking to blow the highligts out on their footag anyway.

Hey Phil, I hate to be critical but I have to say I preferred the first version. This new version is almost too perfect where the first one had a spontaneity and an organic feel that seems to be lacking now. In a nutshell, the original magic is lacking. Of course, this is all subjective but it's just my visceral reaction to it.

Did you also change the version of the music you were using? I know there are two variations on the soundtrack...something seemed different, not as much arpeggio violin....

yes different track. It had a better end to it.

Appreciate you taking the time to look at it, I do prefer this new one as it felt more like a journey whereas the knocked together original one felt a little too much like a test film with a few random shots in there.

I only recut it as I was suffering from crappy insomnia last night so did a little recut!

thanks. really appreciate it. The thing I disliked most about the first one was my very lazy use of dissolves. A wise editor once told me "A dissolve is a sign of failure for an editor", they have their place but there is an over reliance of them when a straight cut would work better. As shown here!

I also much prefer my autumnal colour palette I got through Magic Bullet looks. It really brought out the deep reds and browns.

I am doing my first broadcast project with the extreme at the end of this week. It's part four of a series of films I have made about Anorexia. I shot the previous 3 on the Brevis (they are on my website) and wanted to give the Extreme a try on talking heads.

Phil,
I'm giving the letus a go on an interview tomorrow and one thing I did notice was that, with a prime lens on the Letus, it is possible to zoom on the camera and go from 21mm to the end of the zoom. There is a minimal resolution drop that I could barely see on my panasonic 17". For an interview setup this will be pretty useful. At the very least it can be used for focusing.
I continue to be impressed by this adapter. I put a Sigma 15mm on it yesterday and got some really nice fisheye effects.

Shane.

HI Shane,

I noticed that. It's the weak achromat that lets you do it. A real perk. You can actually do minor reframes, how good is that? Even little jerks on the manual zoom that I like doing on handheld stuff
