How Many Hours of Sleep Do YOU Get A Night and Why?

I don't have a problem with this. I just go into robot mode and auto mode.
The problem I have is after 7 hours I wake up. Meaning if I sleep at 8 in the afternoon I will wake up at around 3 in the midnight doin the ghost...

I find that if I don't get a lot of sleep, I've got more hours to work, but they aren't as productive as they are if I'm rested.

I try to get at least 7 per night.

When I was in school - 3-4 hours (like most people)

After getting a job - 6 -7 hours

Weekends - 6 - 7 hours - I love European Football (Soccer) so I have to get up early to catch some games.

- Mikko ... eating chocolate to stay awake.

Well, speak of the devil, I didn't sleep much last night... My daughter was puking and dry heaving all night. two days of day care and she's already gotten sick..... Day care sucks :)

Im on a mac from 8:20 in the morning, till 2:20, then from 2:30 to 11 at night lol.....then i go to bed at 12 and wake up at 7:30

weekends, i go to bed at around 3, and get up at like 11

I fall asleep after 11pm and usually wake up after 8:30 am or even after 9am. I don't work at the moment so it gives me the freedom to sleep. Before I'd get 5-6 hours when I worked at the hotel.

I've been waiting for this thread for many sleepless nights. I'm really too high strung to sleep, so I'm exhausted all the time. :) I get about 4 hours, 7 days a week and I'm closing in on 40 years old, so it's not good.

I sent a friend an email explaining my situation and that helped it make sense.

Here's why I get no sleep:

1. Producing a feature that's to shoot in NJ and Japan. That's enough right there.
2. I have been developing a memorandum for a movie that I was supposed to shoot in AZ, but got bumped because of the one above.
2. I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. The 8 month old was a premie and sick for a while. No sleep there.
3. My wife travels a couple weeks out of the month and I only have one grandparent in town, so I'm on single-dad duty when she's gone.
4. I design custom homes for a living most of the time.
5. I have been developing a wrist-watch company for the past year, which is becoming a FULL time job ....and investors are waiting
6. I judge and help out with a series of film challenges and festivals throughout the year.

Whewww.....there, I feel better. Anybody want to chip in :) Just kidding, I'm a control freak, so that wouldn't work.

I guess being so busy is why I'm not around here much any more, but I do miss it.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Back to work.

J.

PS-RAMSEY-those kids grow fast, don't they? Mine are just getting over being sick too. We're in it together brother. :)

Apparently I'm not the freak I thought I was. At least not relative to you folks. I get about 4-6 average. Don't get me wrong, I love to sleep, but I have a hard time going to sleep.

Wife and kids go to bed between 9:30 and 10pm and then I have that heavenly, guilt free, distraction free, daddy cave time to actually get things done. Of course then I have to get up for my day job at 7am, so ...

I try to get a solid 8-9 a night, and succeed sometimes. But, seriously, I need sleep. In my opinion, it keeps me healthy, productive, creative, and stress free. Sleep is essential to my creativity.

But, working as a TV producer there are definitely times when sleep isn't an option. Nonetheless, I'm worthless without it. I can't imagine getting 4 hours of sleep a night on average.

I pull all nighters every once in awhile, and late nights, but I have to make up for it somewhere.
