Got a DVX100 and I'm a Little Worried

HA!!!

back to topic... how many hours are on the heads? you can look it up in the menu. Is it a dvx100, dvx100a, or dvx100b?

Other than that, go shoot some footage, connect it to your computer, import it and look at it. If everything looks and sounds as it should, your fine.

rcbrown23, thanks for the advice. I'm planning on shooting something this week.

It has 35hours on the head. It's the b model. I don't know what tapes the previous owner used. Should I get the heads cleaned and then use Panny tapes or just start using Panny tapes?

Thanks.

What are the best cleaning tapes to use.

Thanks
With 35 hours on the camera, don't sweat it. Pick a brand and stick with it. When the red X comes on, clean the heads. We put 80 hours on the camera shooting Hollywood Gothic. 35 hours is still a baby.

What is the name for those people who are perfectly fine, but keep going to the doctor anyway?[/quote]

munchausen by proxy
is the condition, also known as hypochondriac

Seriously, like everyone else has stated, go shoot stuff. If the footage comes back all messed up, it's broke. Otherwise check out the search feature in the bar right below your user info in the upper right corner. If you can't find what you need answered then ask. Otherwise, it's kinda hard to answer the question, "How do I know if I got a lemon?" OR "What kind of things should I look for...." This is almost like going to a mechanic and saying your car makes a funny noise. I trust your great deal came with a manual? Otherwise, get one.

BTW- Congrats on getting a camera and now, go shoot great stuff.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
