Hoodman H-2 (P2 cards)

I would consider plugging it in to the wall and feeding ac power. If there's any glitch with the battery during the update process you might have issues. also, the firmware update is good for 16 and 32 GB cards.

Yeah. you can do it yourself. Just follow the directions. It's not that hard. Copy the folder to an SD card using your computer. Stick that SD card into your camera and go into MCR mode. Make sure you have a full battery when you start the update. It can take a while.

I'd do the opposite -- I trust my batteries more than I trust the grid. At home I have multiple UPS' that I plug my equipment into so I know the camera would stay on if power fails or there is a surge/brownout, but in general I think a fully charged battery is safer than a random AC outlet.

Much appreciated.

Hello Michael,

I have been meaning to ask if your father was Dan Erlewine, one of the greatest acoustical instument makers I have ever met. He wouldn't necessarily know me by my current name, but certainly would with a little more background. If you are, contact me by PM, as I have to say I have thought of his work so many times as I have met so many people that own his guitars. If not, you have a great name.

Best,

Jan

I am not sure if they really would be sold. I have heard of another company located in TW that reverseengineered the P2 card. The got some a visit from Panasonic and PANA offered them to licence the P2 technology for a hughe ammount of money or the will be sued due to patent violation.

The result was they stoppend the P2 project.

That´s what I heard - sounds reasonable to me

Actually they're not the only ones who blame the firmware update for problems. P2 Genie is having struggles introduced by the firmware update too. But hey, it's good that they posted some news, hope they're still working on it. They say they'll be ready to ship in Q4 2007, that's already begun so it could be any time between now and Dec. 31 if they can keep to their new schedule.

Wow I'm surprised this is still in the works...I talked to someone there and they said they had me on the list to notify me of availability...I've never heard anything...it's been since um July or August. I ended up buying two 16GB P2 cards...

Thank Barry for letting me know about the H2 at NAB...to bad it hasn't surfaced...could be a great alternative...
