I'm trying to create a film look to my videos (none of the warm colours associated with video) and so I am using these custom settings:

NAM AVG FILM GAM CINE2 KNE LOW BLK MIDDLE PED 0 SET -3 SHP -2 HDF MIDDLE DHV 0 COR 2 NR1 OFF NR2 LOW CMX CINE2 CGN -4 CPH 0 RGN 0 GGN 0 BGN 0 RGM -4 RBM -8 GRM 4 GBM -16 BRM -4 BGM -4

These are fine, but what I really need to know is whether I HAVE to use 25F (shooting in HDV)?

To get the most film like image/motion you must use 25f. Try shooting in 50i and 25f and you will see the difference. And your shutter should be 1/60 or 1/120.. i always shoot 1/120 because i like it more.

I thought 1/50s would be more appropriate since it corresponds to 180deg shutter angle on a film camera (1/48s at 24P).
