LCD retro fit? Update or other possibilities..

Hey I know this is an old issue and perhaps will never change (at least through Panasonic)... but has anyone heard of a way to retro-fit a higher resolution LCD to the HVX ? Something that's shows at least 720?

I own an onboard monitor, but can't use it for documentary shooting.

If someone could do this... and do it well, I swear it would be worth $2500 bucks to me.
Especially with the coming of bigger P2 cards. This camera would be 'the' documentary camera. imho

LCD screens are pretty complicated pieces of engineering. Plus the signal that's going to that screen is probably low-res. Anything that did what you're talking about would basically be a onboard monitor anyway.

I own and use and onboard all the time (when the camera is on sticks).
For run and gun doco style shooting it wont work. i need the onboard LCD to be higher rez.

what about a shoulder-mount that you can mount an onboard on? The zacuto rails have a movable arm & shelf that a monitor or firestore can be mounted to.

Are you using a steadicam of some sort for your 'run and gun doco style shooting'. For $2500 you could improvise with a LCD mount if your monitor is a design that is workable for that. I'm approaching the same problem in the near future for a project that is planned. I would be very interested in your solution.
