How bad (or good) is the dvx100b squeeze mode?

I'm about to purchase this camera and want to hear some opinions from users.
I'll be using the dvx100 for shooting a feature and is very important to me how the 16:9 mode looks.
For now I can't purchase the anamorphic lens.
Thankss

The 16:9 mode looks like 16:9.

If you shoot in 24p/25p/30p, with THIN line detail, it delivers as much resolution and sharpness as any interlaced "native 16:9" camera. But it's not going to be as sharp as a progressive-scan native 16:9 camera.

Even so, the standard DVX has made films that have been nominated for Oscars. If a DVX does what you need, don't let the squeeze thing slow you down for a second.

Thanks for your reply Barry,
I know the DVX is a great camera, no doubt about it, but what I want is a camera that has a good 24p 16:9 mode because I won't record on standard 4:3 ratio.
So I am looking between the XL2 and the DVX100b, is there too much difference between the XL2 16:9 native and the DVX 16:9 squeeze?
I don't have the money to buy the XL2.
Thanks again.

Here is a clip I took a couple of weeks ago of a high school football game.. right click and save as

Then why is it even a question?

The DVX100B's squeeze mode is not going to be as sharp as the XL2's 16:9 mode. That's just a fact. It does, however, look very good on its own.

If there is such important difference I prefere wait a couple months gaining some money enough to buy an XL2.

Don't get bogged down only on squeeze vs. native. There is a whole list of features sets to compare between the two cameras. Also, look at how the pictures are rendered (beyond overall sharpness) between the two cameras.
