Fake Robbie Williams music video...

We did it in quite a rush - 8 days in total - for this Robbie Williams competition. I found out quite late about it - close to the deadline.

It's obviously a no-budget effort and I'm aware of its defects but, anyway, I was curious to know what you folks think.

It was my first attempt at filmmaking [or musicvideomaking :)].

Feel free to critisize [or praise :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)] anything :).

I liked the way it was shot. Decent acting for what it was... and some very hot girls :)

The story was stupid and a bit distracting, though I did like the way the ending wrapped around with the beginning.

When the story is too demanding of your attention in order to follow it, it takes away from your enjoyment of the music, and as such is a mistake for a music video. In a music video all you are trying to do is have a nice melding of music and imagery, and so the story must not take away too much attention.

Overall, a very good effort, especially nicely shot - great color scheme, great visual choices throughout, even the editing was very nice. Good job!

Yes, I agree - the story is a bit heavy for a music video and it actually transforms the song into a kind of soundtrack for the video itself :).

It would take a feature length to tell that kind of stuff well.

I wanted to clear out that I didn't do all by myself - I wrote and directed the thing and also did the rough cut, but I guess this is part of the director's job in editing, right?

Four cinematography students worked on it :) [cause: lack of time].

And an editor-girl refined the final cut [in premiere :) ].

Concerning the actors, they're not professionals and this was their first time in front of camera [and my first time behind camera :)].

I had a hard time finding a guy who was good at breakdancing and acting at the same, a few others declined but I guess the best one said "yes". The best ones often say yes :).

But I disagree that there isn't any potential in such a kind of story. The script for this vid is crap though :). Some things need time to be understood.

Otherwise, The Rise and Fall of a star could become a good theme for a movie, despite being a bit of a cliche. An Elvis movie maybe?

What inspired me to do this video is a documentary about the life of the 80's celebrity Vanilla Ice.

...

It was fun :).

That was very nice, good editing and content, vid quality for myspace could probably be improved with a sharpening filter.

Good luck.
