LCD doesn't work

I just turned on my camera, and my LCD is black and lifeless. I open it up and the VF shuts off like it is supposed to, but there is no image. Is it possible that I turned it off somehow?

I tried calling JVC, but the only support number I could find was for consumer products, not pro. The guy gave me a number to call... and it sent me to a porn service. Great job!

I frequently lose the LCD when I switch from the VTR mode to the REC mode. When that happens, I simply close and reopen the LCD "door."

Tried that too, and no luck. After closer inspection, I pointed the camera towards the window with full Sunlight coming in, and I could barely see an image. So it is working, just not visible. And this is in both Camera and VTR modes.

I wonder if lcd brightness is turned all the way down.... I dont have this cam, and its an obvious fix. Just in case you haven't tried that yet...

Yep, that was one of the first things I did. Hitting the - button will dim it down, but the + will only bring it up to where you can only barely notice anything. And you have to look really hard to notice anything. For a while I thought it was completely dead.

Ok, after 5 days of menus, disconnections, several wrong numbers, 1 phone sex recording, and several unanswered calls and emails, I finally got to the right people and I've been asked to send it in to Georgia. The one service center I called guestimated the repair to be $200 or $300, unless I can get the warranty extended.

Moderators, I will cross post this to another thread which can be closed.

They told me to send it in so that they could look at it, and see about extending the warranty. $60 to send it up to Georgia, and they call me saying they want $50 to look at it. I then told them I was sending JVC a letter, to hold on until I find out what they had to say. He informed me they needed an immediate answer, so I told them to send it back, I'll trade it for a DVX.
