Figured I'd throw this out there in case anyone was interested in getting together.

I'm going out to Dolce Vita tonight - where I usually go hang out with my wife...but she's out of town all weeekend. So...instead of sitting there and having some coffee alone, I figured I'd throw out a very last minute open invitation to the DVXUsers here in Austin.

Anyone interested?
If not, no worries...I'll be there either way.

For those interested, Dolce Vita is on Duval off of 45th street.
Right next door to Hyde Park Bar & Grill...across from (what used to be) Mother's.
 
Shoot. I'm three hours too far north. Well, make that six hours with rush hour in both places.

As far as tonight - looks like I'm flying solo - leaving in about 10 minutes.
Oh well - at least you guys can't accuse me of being antisocial.

Sorry I missed seeing this before now. Try again sometime, I'd look forward to meeting other shooters, and I'm down to Austin a lot.
 
Too bad the rest of you aren't in Austin!
Maybe we should start planning.... who's coming for SXSW next year?

I figure I've been on here way too long to not have met with many of the people who are in the same city.
It never hurts to have someone else that can loan you twenty bucks.

Well he can owe you the $30 and give it to you later, and then you can give him the $10 back, leaving you with the $20...

I used to live three, four blocks away from the Hide Park Grill

I was in a complex called Los Arcos which is right behind that newish Pizza Parlor and that video store, and the Hyde Park Theatre. thats a really neat area
 
Too bad that I missed it. We should plan for a get-together in a week or two so we can get a decent showing.

I'd certainly be down/up for it.

Couldn't have been that long ago - that pizza place hasn't been here that long.
It used to be a martial arts place.

The video store is called...originally enough..."The Movie Store"
Actually now that I think about it that entire corner is really generic in its naming conventions. You've got "The Movie Store" next door to "The Parlour" (pizza parlor), and across the street is "Hyde Park Theater" ...the name of the neighborhood.

VERY creative.
But yeah, great neighborhood.... that I don't really live near.
We just like hanging out there.

If you want to make it on the weekend the next couple of weeks are going to be bad for me I think. OCT 5th would be the day to plan on for me (or 4th, I think thats a friday).
I have a decent sized project due on the 4th. After that, I can (sort of) breath easy.

By the way Bball...can you drive yet?

October 4th works for me because I have 2 shoots this weekend and a homecoming dance the weekend after.

So yeah whenever works for me but into October is the best.
 
Can't remember the name of the garage on that corner. Probably "Concrete and Aluminum Building Auto".


Parlour's about a year old. I went there last summer and bought a few beers. The pineapple pizza was great. Also, the Movie Store is really dissapointing compared to Vulcan or ILuv Video. My friend rented some movies and was about 4 days late returning them. The owner of the store (some 30 year old dude) came to his house and knocked on the door. Got real intense. Pretty insane.
