Here's some test/crash course footage we shot before a big week-long production. (I'll post the commercial sometime later!) I might mention that I was extremely glad we had the crash course before shooting with the adaptor before in counted!

(mostly handheld with 50mm Nikon)

(practice settings with the Letus and 2 Nikon primes: nikon 1.4 50mm and nikon 2.5 105mm. At about 2:36 you can see straight HVX on some of the shots.)

Yes, he did. As he said in his title, it was overcranked at 60fps... which is 2.5x slo-mo.

Thats mighty nice of you! I hope he takes you up on it, I like the footage but would like to see a little better quality demo than youtube.

Looks like the Letus is starting to really hold its own

I'll take some setup pictures next time but basically it's HVX/Step Up ring/Letus and 50 Nikon prime Lens (sometimes 85mm) . I don't have a rail system in place so far.

cool stuff man... looks good. Did you have problems with grain in the image when shooting 60P? I'm assuming you shot a lot of it at low shutter speeds. And how about that shot in the house with the baby towards the end, did you need a lot of lights for that shot?

Yes we shot at low shutter speeds 1/48 or 1/24. I thought the images were fairly clean and not too much grain at 60fps.
Definitely needed a lot of light for the house with the baby.

and here's a new demo...all 60fps HVX and about 1/2 with Letus 35 LE.

Looks very nice.. looks like the same backyard when the guy is throwing the football as the Nicole shot.

so you like that Letus huh?
care to discuss any MAJOR likes or dislikes about it.. I was all over getting a Brevis, but damn, the SGPro is looking better ( still dont like the long wait but hey) and now the Letus is getting much better reviews, and does the FLIP already..

anyhow, I dig your footage. thanks for posting

Thanks, yes that's the same backyard -- the Nicole shots were our test shots with the Letus. The football throw was the real shot for a commercial.

Likes: 1.Insanely fast shipping -- had the Letus in my hands within 2 days (and free shipping!)
And if you're like me and you get jobs that start the following week sometimes, you want your new gear here right now so you can get comfortable with it.
2. not so expensive -$700
3. It Flips! (maybe that's the best reason)
4. Sharp. Can't compare this to other apdaptors except to limited use of the Redrock. The Letus seems to be in the same class in sharpness as the Redrock although different type of GG. But I really like what I saw.
5. Lightweight -- don't need rail system for lighter and shorter lenses. Could do some handheld although a bit difficult without a focus pull.
6. Nikon, Canon or both. I chose Nikon only.
7. Good customer service from manufacturer.
8. also compatible with DVX
9. very easy to setup although I highly recommend practicing with it before shooting the real deal! (like with any brand)

Dislikes: 1. Lowlight not good at all (but hey it does flip!) Definitely a connection there. I did try this adaptor out on my DVX 100a and could almost shoot in natural light but no way with the HVX.
2. Seems a bit fragile and have heard of reports of dust issues.
3. Didn't come with lens caps nor any sort of case nor a cool hat but hey for $700, I could spring for the those items no problem. In fact my free Rolling Stones fan club hat came last week so now I'm set there too.

Might be like looking at the Brevis once it gets the flip going (I think it just did!)
But I'm sure I'll keep the Letus as it paid for itself in less than one shoot and is a valuable tool.
